REVELATION. 9:43 PM
today equals leg-breaking-cum-sungei-buloh-wetland-reserve-trip day.
met sheen at tanah merah first, and then in between lots of calls and smses and whatever, we finally got on a train with lance in it and then told wm to run to bedok mrt to get on that same train so that we didnt have to waste time. haha. it was funny cos we were going to step out when wm screamed into my ear, 'OH I SEE IT, I SEE IT.' and he emerged from the stairs.
remained rather silent throughout the rest of the mrt ride from bedok to, lets see, jurong east. ate at pizza hut and it was rather silent too besides talking abt what pizza to order. lol. the toilet(s) incident was funny too cos... okay nvm. finally left for kranji mrt. got there, took a CNG cab (heh, going green while doing a project on the environment) till sungei buloh. oh yeah, $6, lance paid for it and we didnt pay him back :P
we asked the guy at the counter, which i bet was the receptionist which i half insulted :P we had to pay 50 cents cos it was the sch hols. basically we walked one whole round with the insects attacking us. probably was about 7km or more, cos the map said sth abt 7km for 'route 1'. this is amazing because i never would have walked that far had i known the distance.

the 'never-ending' road.
spotted a monitor lizard halfway on a path. so ms teo was right anw. looked quite... cool.

it along the path.

another one (or maybe the same one?) in the water when we were walking back at the end of everything.
we finally came to this tower with super steep stairs and everyone was contemplating whether to go up when wm finally went up and i pushed lance to go. i only went up halfway cos it was super steep and i realised that there was nth to see anw. the going down part was the hardest cos u had to place your foot sideways ><
oh yeah, the flower-looking mushroom. quite cute. lol.
basically didnt find much migratory birds and we spent a lot of energy walking and swiping mosquitoes away. so you could say it was only 50% fruitful. and the 'exciting' bit came at the end of the whole trip. when we exited and went to the bus stop to wait for 925, which would supposedly take us to kranji mrt.
we waited...
and waited.
and waited.
and there was no bus. for like, 20 minutes.
great.
then we decided to call a cab! oh look, they tell us to wait for 5 minutes and then... 'sorry, all our cabs in that area are fully booked.' erm, like, wow? they should seriously get more cabs in that ulu area. but nevermind, we spotted a cab dropping someone off at SBWR. and we actually rushed to the carpark where the cab was and blocked its path for abt, 1 second. or rather, wm did xD and, it was... on call. not surprisingly, it was the father and son duo next to us at the bus stop that called it. SOMEHOW, they got through. amazing.
somehow, again i got through to the person at dial-a-cab (which supposedly has 6 taxi companies waiting) and i told her 'sungei buloh wetland reserve'. and she repeated it. and i said yes. so she said okay. finally, we had a cab. hurray.
then, we saw the bus that would take us to kranji mrt (not 925, it was a shuttle bus). but since we didnt want to cancel the cab booking, we skipped it and waited. and waited. and waited. we were at the bus stop at 1600 and it was now 1715. no sign of the cab at all, even though it said 8-12 min. i called at 1645. argh. then he called me up and told me amusing news: he was at sungei gedong. gedong. thats like, at choa chu kang, near my bro's camp!
even greater.
after waiting another 10 min for any sign of life in a bus, we gave up. almost thought of hitchhiking but nah, didnt want to risk it. so we walked. yes, walked. to goodness no where. all we knew is that if we stayed there we would have died of... perhaps starvation. haha. and turned out we not only ran, we used the chip method, which was half walk half jog. images of the olympic 50km men's walk-jog marathon came into mind. egad. and that used a lot of muscle strength. but wm was practically joking that sjab-ers would carry ppl in need.

the other never ending road to the main road. we probably walked abt 2km or so. before the shuttle bus actually came! flagged it down and good thing the bus driver stopped if not we would have been doomed. and it was the last one, so thank God. and there was an ezlink inside, which was weird. haha. good thing we didnt follow wm's idea of walking all the way to the mrt if not we probably would have reached at 7pm and got home at 9pm. omg.
thats the end of the eventful day. basically now it all depends on the receptionist. again.
